Police say a Jersey City woman is recovering after she was wounded by a stray bullet while watching TV in bed.

Police Capt. Edgar Martine tells The Jersey Journal the 26-year-old Columbia Park Place apartment resident, who recently gave birth to a baby girl, is in stable condition.

The woman and her husband were in bed watching television at around 1:30 p.m. when they heard shots outside their ground-floor apartment, Martinez said.

The stray bullet shattered a window in the couple’s bedroom and then struck the woman in the abdomen.

Jersey City's SWAT team responded to the scene of Sunday's shooting. Officers raided a nearby building but did not make any arrests.
