Woman Shot, Killed by Boyfriend; Body Found in Car After Cops Pull Him Over for Speeding: Police

A Long Island man shot his girlfriend on the street multiple times, killing her, then shoved her into the back of a car and sped away before he was caught by police Thursday night, authorities say.

Eric Bermudez, 36, of Dix Hills allegedly confronted his girlfriend, Regina Flecha, on Burroughs Avenue and near Kenmore Street, and shot at her several times, according to Suffolk police. He then pulled her into his car and drove away.

Two officers spotted him speeding on Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore and pulled him over, police say. That's when they found her body.

EMS responded and transported the 37-year-old Flecha to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where she died, police said.

Bermudez has been charged with second-degree murder. It's not clear if he has an attorney.
