A 24-year-old woman was killed after she was shot in the chest in her Brooklyn courtyard Tuesday morning, and police said she was an innocent bystander.
Nicholiea Taylor was found in the courtyard of the Lafayette Gardens housing development on Dekalb Avenue in Clinton Hill at about 11:30 a.m., police said.
Taylor, was a hard-working single mother who worked as a matron for an ambulette service, according to her sister.
"Goes to work every day. Graduated school, college girl," said an emotional Sheohnna Taylor.
Taylor said her sister was on her way to the gym when she was shot.
"I still feel like I'm waking up from a bad dream and it hasn't stopped yet," she said.
The age of Nicholiea Taylor's child was not immediately known.
Investigators are looking for 21-year-old Corey Brown, who has been identified as a suspect in the shooting. Brown has been arrested several times, including three times this year, according to the NYPD.
Police say it's not clear who fired the gun or who was the intended target.
