Woman Choked, Sexually Assaulted on Queens Street: NYPD

Police are looking for two men they say attacked an 18-year-old woman walking down a Queens street early Wednesday, punching and choking her, trying to steal her purse and sexually assaulting her.

The woman was walking at Putnam and Seneca avenues in Ridgewood at about 2:50 a.m. when the two men approached her from behind, according to the NYPD. One of the men punched her in the head, while the second suspect choked her and covered her mouth with his hand.

Police say the man choking her then tried unsuccessfully to take her purse. Meanwhile, the other suspect began sexually assaulting the victim.

Another pedestrian walked by, police say, and the two men ran off. The woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital and was treated and released.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
