Woman Killed by Hit-Run Driver in Queens

Police say the driver left the scene after hitting the woman at around 10:20 p.m. Saturday at Queens Boulevard and 71st Avenue

The NYPD says a 58-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street on her way home from work in Queens has died.

Police say the driver left the scene after hitting the woman at around 10:20 p.m. Saturday at Queens Boulevard and 71st Avenue in Forest Hills.

The woman was rushed to North Shore University Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Police identified the victim as Nisath Hossain of Queens.

Hossain's family said Sunday that she was on her way home from work at a McDonald's when she was hit. They are trying to raise to money for a proper burial, possibly in Bangladesh where Hossain was originally from.

They described Hossain as a religious person and a good cook.

"I love her so much," said Fasial Riaj, Hossain's son. "I need you to capture the guy who kill my mother."

No arrests have been made. Police say it is possible Hossain was hit by a silver minivan, though they have not confirmed that description.

Anyone with information regarding Hossain's death is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
