Teen Leaps From Car After Woman Tries to Kidnap Her on Way to School: Police

Police in Connecticut are asking for the public's help in locating a woman suspected of trying to abduct a 17-year-old girl and attacking her before the victim ultimately rolled out of the car, police said.

Video surveillance police released shows a four-door sedan driving when the back right car door opens and a person who looks like a female tumbles out of the car. The suspect's car then pulls a U-turn, doubles back on the opposite side of the road and keeps going.

Bridgeport police responded to the corner of Boston and Palisade avenues at 7:15 a.m. on Monday to investigate reports of an attempted abduction.

Responding officers found a 17-year-old girl in the area who wasn't injured. The teenager had been walking to school on Boston Avenue when a charcoal gray Toyota Yaris approached her, police said.

The driver of the Toyota lured her into the car and then attacked her once she was inside the vehicle, police said.

The victim "bailed out" of the car while it was headed west on Boston Avenue, police said.

The Toyota made a U-turn at Dover Street and then drove east on Boston Avenue and passed into Stratford, police said.

Police described the female suspect as someone in her 40s with freckles. She was last seen wearing a black, leather jacket and she had her black hair in a pony tail, police said.

There was heavy traffic in the area at the time of the reported attempted abduction and police are hoping someone witnessed it. They are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver and her car.

The car is missing the back bumper, so the white Styrofoam is exposed.

Bridgeport police ask anyone with information to call Det. Jeff Holtz at 203-581-5293.

It's unknown if the teen knew her attacker.
