A man lost control of his car on a Long Island road Saturday night and drove into oncoming traffic, resulting in a crash with two other cars that killed a passenger, police said.

Kaitlyn Dougherty, 22, of Medford, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Horseblock Road and Yaphank Avenue in Yaphank at around 7:30 p.m., authorities said.

Dougherty was a passenger in one of the cars that Christopher Torres, 23, hit when he lost control of his vehicle, according to officials. Torres was in critical condition after being taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by helicopter.

Police said the drivers of the two cars Torres hit, as well as another passenger, were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
