Woman Killed, Man Critically Wounded in Triple Shooting on Staten Island: Police

A man and a woman were each shot in the head, one fatally, and a 82-year-old man suspected of shooting them turned the gun on himself inside a car on Staten Island Friday evening, police say.

Investigators believe the 82-year-old gunman shot a 47-year-old man in the head as he was approaching a house at 455 Virginia Ave., according to police. The elderly man then shot a 28-year-old woman inside the house, also in the head.

The gunman then fled to a car nearby, at Rockwell and Clifton avenues, and shot himself in the head, police said.

The 47-year-old man and the woman were taken to Staten Island University North Hospital. The woman was pronounced dead, and the man is listed in critical condition, police say.

The suspect is in critical condition at Richmond University Medical Center.

The relationship between the suspect and the victims was not immediately clear.
