Woman Smacks 12-Year-Old Boy With His Own Hockey Stick: NYPD

The woman allegedly became upset with a group of noisy boys

A woman looking after a baby in a stroller at a Staten Island park got into an argument with a 12-year-old boy, grabbed his hockey stick and smacked him with it, police said Tuesday.

The boy and other kids were playing with a ball in the park in the Eltingville neighborhood at about 4 p.m. on April 13 when the ball crashed into something and made a loud noise, authorities said.

The woman got upset with the boy, so she grabbed his hockey stick and whacked him with it, police said.

The boy's leg was bruised, but required no medical treatment, authorities said.

"I really tried to keep my cool and ask her why she hit him, and she had nothing to say to me except that the baby she had in the carriage was sleeping," the victim's mother, Gladys Martinez, told NBC 4 New York.

The woman left the park after the police were called, authorities said.

Anyone with information about the woman should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
