NYPD: Elderly Woman Fatally Struck in Brooklyn

A 76-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing a street in Brooklyn.

Police say it happened just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Avenue M near East 57 Street.

Police say the woman, identified as Nicoletta Gargano, of Brooklyn, was crossing Avenue M when she was hit be a vehicle making a turn onto the avenue.

She was taken to Brookdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
