Woman Driving on New Jersey Highway Killed by Falling Tree

Authorities say a woman was killed when a tree fell on her vehicle as she drove along a central New Jersey highway.

Colts Neck Township police say 46-year-old Stacey Weathers, of Tinton Falls, was alone in her convertible when the tree came crashing down around 4:25 p.m. Saturday on southbound Route 34.

She was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Authorities say it wasn't clear what caused the tree to fall, but it came amid a battering coastal storm.

The accident remains under investigation.
