Woman Dies in Fiery Car Crash on L.I.

A woman died on Long Island Friday night after her car crashed into a parked car, knocking down utility poles and eventually crashing into a gas station, setting the vehicle ablaze, police said.

Suffolk County Police said the woman was driving her 2006 Mercedes-Benz “at a high rate of speed” down Route 109 when she lost control of her car and struck a parked vehicle in West Babylon.

The car knocked down several utility poles before striking the gas pumps at an Ultra gas station, engulfing the car and station in flames.

The investigation of the crash is ongoing.
