Authorities are investigating the death of a woman who was found floating in the water at Pier 90 on the West Side Tuesday.
Police got a call about the body in the water at 12th Avenue between 49th and 40th streets shortly after 9 a.m. She was pulled out and taken to the pier, where she was pronounced dead.
Police did not say whether the woman had signs of trauma to her body, and they did not offer a possible age. Some reports said construction crews found her as they were dredging the area, but circumstances remain unclear.
The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how she died.
