Criminal Complaint Reveals Chilling Details of Brutal Sex Attack in East Williamsburg

A 31-year-old man choked a 27-year-old woman unconscious, broke a bone in her neck and bruised her as he ripped down her pantyhose in an attempt to rape her before he was scared off by two men, a criminal complaint alleges.

The criminal complaint, obtained by NBC New York Thursday, provides chilling details surrounding Tuesday's attempted rape in Brooklyn.

Todd Deas, the assailant, followed the victim down McKibbin Street in East Williamsburg at around 12:35 a.m. The victim told Deas not to touch her, but lost consciousness as she attempted to walk away from him, the criminal complaint says.

Antonio Pina, a neighborhood karate instructor, told detectives that Deas then forced himself onto the victim, pinned her to the ground and repeatedly slammed her face and body on the sidewalk before he was confronted by Pina and his stepfather, Luis Ruiz, before running away.

Ruiz saw the victim lying on the sidewalk in and out of consciousness with her underwear and pantyhose ripped from her body with only one leg attached, according to the criminal complaint.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for "black and blue bruising about the eye causing the eye to be swollen shut, loss of consciousness for an unknown period of time, and substantial pain about the face, eyes and chest," the criminal complaint says.

Deas was arrested Wednesday and charged with a number of offenses, including attempted rape in the first degree, sexual abuse in the first degree, and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.

He is being represented by Debra Silberman of Brooklyn Defender Services. Silberman did not immediately respond to NBC 4 New York for comment. Bail is set at $500,000 cash.
