Woman Charged with Bloodying Boy's Nose: NYPD

A woman accused of punching a 10-year-old boy in the face inside his father's Bronx deli in mid-August turned herself in to police Saturday, authorities said.

Jathiyah Richards, 47, of Brooklyn, was charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and menacing, police said. It was unclear whether she had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.

Richards apparently is the woman seen in an Aug. 19 surveillance video angrily approaching Mohammed Almontsir inside the M&G Bus Stop Deli on East 206th Street in the Norwood neighborhood.

Another woman is seen in the video attempting to restrain the suspect, who breaks loose and flashes her fist at the boy.

The alleged punch wasn't captured by the surveillance camera.

The deli is owned by the boy's father, who said he had stepped outside before the incident occurred. His son later told him he had been "making faces" at the woman who threw the punch.

The boy's nose was bloodied by the blow, police said.
