Woman Caught on Tape Stealing Purse in Church: Cops

It was a brazen crime in an unlikely place.

Police are looking for a woman who walked into a Manhattan church and swiped an unattended purse of a pew during a service.

The whole incident was caught on on tape during services at 6:30 in the morning on  Aug. 16th at the Immaculate Conception Church on 14th Street in the East Village. 

The woman allegedly walked in, removed the purse from the pew then dashed out, police said.

The suspect is described as a heavyset black woman who was wearing a blue tee shirt and gray tights at the time, and carrying a green purse.
