Authorities are investigating after the badly decomposed body of a woman was discovered in a Queens park Tuesday morning.
Police say a Parks Department employee found the woman's remains in Little Bay Park, near 14th Road and Utopia Parkway, in Bay Terrace shortly after 10 a.m.
Investigators are looking into whether the body may be that of a 41-year-old missing local woman who has not been seen for weeks.
Paul Giovennielo, who lives across the street from the park, said police went door to door interviewing residents Tuesday, asking whether they saw anything on July 14th.
Giovennielo said the neighborhood is quiet, a "great area, no violence, no crimes."
Police haven't said whether they suspect foul play. A medical examiner will determined the cause of death.
