Police Investigate Whether Banks Were Robbed by Same Woman

In Wednesday's robbery, the suspect was wearing a Mets baseball cap, dark sunglasses, a light blue zip-up sweatshirt and jeans, police said.

Police on Long Island are investigating whether the woman who robbed a Chase bank Wednesday morning is the same one who robbed another bank last week.

Suffolk County Police said a woman wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses walked into a Chase bank branch at 169 Orinoco Drive in Brightwaters at about 11:50 a.m. She handed the teller a note demanding cash, then fled with the money, police said.

The robber was described as being in her 40s, with brown hair and a medium build. She was wearing a Mets baseball cap, dark sunglasses, a light blue zip-up sweatshirt and jeans, police said.

Investigators are looking to establish whether it was the same woman who robbed the Babylon branch of People's United Bank last Tuesday. In that robbery, she was wearing a green jacket, a white cap and sunglasses.
