Woman, 73, Dies in Fire at Queens Retirement Home: NYPD

A 73-year-old woman was killed in a two-alarm blaze at a Queens retirement home early Thursday, the NYPD says.

Officers and fire crews were sent to the eighth floor of the 12-story Flushing House Retirement Home just after midnight, police say. The fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes, but the woman was injured in the blaze at the Browne Street building.

The 73-year-old, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one else was injured, and no other residents were displaced.
