Woman and 2 Girls Seriously Injured in Brooklyn Fire

A woman and two 12-year-old twin sisters were seriously injured in a fast moving fire that tore through a Brooklyn home Friday night, authorities said.

According to the FDNY, the fire started around 11 p.m. in the stairway of a building on 60th Street near 12th Avenue in Borough Park.

Firefighters responded, rescuing the woman and two girls from the flames. The victims were rushed to Lutheran and Maimonides hospitals, where they were initially listed in critical condition. By Saturday morning their conditions had been upgraded to serious but stable, police said.

The woman's relationship to the girls was unclear.
