Why has it taken so long to rebuild ground zero? This week, New Yorkers can pose that question online to an official heading the effort.

The executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns ground zero, is taking questions this week about the rebuilding of the 16-acre World Trade Center site.

The agency set up a Web site last month to track construction progress, where office towers, a memorial to the Sept. 11 attacks and a transit hub are planned. The projects are years behind their original schedule.

Christopher Ward plans to answer the public's questions on the site, wtcprogress.com, until Nov. 11.
