The mayor of White Plains has been charged with assaulting his wife.

Mayor Adam Bradley turned himself in to police on Sunday. Hours earlier, his wife had filed a domestic violence complaint against him.
Bradley was arraigned on third-degree misdemeanor assault in White Plains City Court.

His wife, Fumiko Bradley, accused her husband of grabbing her left arm, placing it against a door frame and closing the door on her hand. She said her left middle finger was injured.

After his arraignment, Bradley acknowledged to reporters that he and his wife have had marital problems. But he insisted he "did not in any way mistreat'' his wife.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.

The former Assemblyman was elected mayor in 2009.
