Alleged Wheelchair Bank Robber Arrested in Queens Heist

A 23-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly robbing an Astoria bank in a wheelchair last week, authorities say.

Kelvin Dennison, who lives in the neighborhood, was arrested Friday on a robbery charge, police said.

In the robbery, police said a man wheeled into the Santander bank on Broadway in the middle of the afternoon and passed a teller a note demanding cash. He fled with $1,212.

Authorities say it's not clear if Dennison uses a wheelchair because of a disability or if he allegedly used it for some other reason in the June 29 heist.

Local store owner Juan Arenas said last week he overheard officers saying they found the chair blocks away after the robbery.

It wasn't immediately clear if Dennison had an attorney.
