1 Dead, 1 Injured in Westport, Conn. Jewelry Robbery

Police say it was targeted.

The owner of a Westport jewelry manufacturer has been killed and another man injured in what police say was a targeted robbery.

Westport police say 59-year-old Yekutiel was declared dead at Norwalk Hospital following the shooting Thursday night at YZ Manufacturing.

Ronen Konfino, an associate of Zeevi's, was also shot. He was in stable condition Friday.

Authorities say the robbery was not random and that the two men were targeted by the suspect.

Police believe the shooter had responded to an ad the victim had placed, saying the store buys and sells diamonds. He had gone to the store Wednesday afternoon for an appointment.

Police say they responded to a 911 call at about 10 p.m. Thursday from an unidentified man reporting that both he and another person had been shot.

Police described the suspect as in his 40s and about 5 feet 10 inches tall with stubbly facial hair. He was wearing a black cap, black-framed glasses, jeans, brown cowboy boots and a blue or green jacket with a light-colored stripe at the time of the robbery.
