New Rochelle Man Convicted in Death of His Toddler

A New Rochelle man has been convicted of manslaughter in the death of his 2-year-old son.

Westchester County prosecutors said Richard Leak fractured the skull of his son Khalil Leak in January 2011. The defense argued that the injury was an accident.

Police said they found the boy dead after Leak called Khalil's mother and reported that the toddler was having trouble breathing.

The 32-year-old Leak was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter. He could be sent to prison for up to 25 years when he is sentenced June 12.
