Police are searching for a man accused of attempting to rob a woman inside a West Village apartment building at gunpoint early Monday. 

The suspect was captured on surveillance camera following the 29-year-old woman into her building in the area of Thompson and West Houston streets at about 1:15 a.m., police said. He showed a small silver handgun and demanded money. 

The woman screamed, and the suspect fled without any property, police said. No one was hurt.

The suspect is described as about 30 to 40 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, 160 to 180 pounds, and last seen wearing olive cargo pants, black leather coat, white sneakers and a black knit cap.
