Wendy's Worker Jailed for Trying to Keep Dirty Bacon From Being Served

Pulled knife on co-worker who tried to serve food from floor

This could either be really good PR or really bad PR for Wendy's. Depends on how you look at it.

A worker at the restaurant on South Road in West Hartford, Connecticut, was charged with pulling a knife on a fellow employee.

Clean-minded Derron Cooke, 25, of Hartford, was arrested Friday around 1:45 p.m.

Cooke told officers he pulled the weapon on his co-worker after the employee dropped bacon on the floor, and tried to put it back on a customer's sandwich, police said.

Cooke said he tried to prevent the co-worker from passing the dirty sandwich on to the customer.

But the other employee told police the fight was over the way chicken was being prepared.

Despite his gallant effort, Cooke is facing charges of attempted assault, breach of peace, reckless endangerment and threatening.

"His purposes were altruistic here," said Lt. Stephen Estes as he chuckles. "He wanted the public to get good bacon."

He's was released on $15,000 bond. Perhaps Cooke can get a job in the jail cafeteria.
