Memorial Day weekend is off to a damp and chilly start, with rain continuing over the next 24 hours and a high of just 59 degrees on Saturday.

The cool temp on Saturday is about 15 degrees below average, forecasters say.

The rainy weather will pull out late Saturday, and Sunday looks a better for beachgoers, with a high of 70, but it will be windy, with gusts of up to 40 mph.

The holiday weekend will recover with a sunny and warmer Memorial Day, when the high is expected at 75, with light winds.

Humid weather returns later in the week, along with the chance of scattered thunderstorms.
