System That Triggered Deadly Tornadoes in Texas Could Unleash Severe Storms in Central New York Monday

The weather system that tore through Texas over the weekend, spawning four tornadoes that killed at least four people and injured many more, could trigger a line of severe thunderstorms in central New York and Pennsylvania Monday, Storm Team 4 says.

Forecasters had initially anticipated more widespread storms, but said early Monday afternoon that fog and low cloud cover would hold the bad weather west of the city. That said, tornadoes and damaging winds are possible in central New York and Pennsylvania Monday evening, Storm Team 4 says.

Thunderstorms are possible in New York City and the surrounding areas overnight, but they won't have nearly the momentum or severity storms to the west could have Monday afternoon and evening, according to Storm Team 4. Storm Tracker 4 radar showed everything clear around the city before 2 p.m., but a menacing line of storms appeared off to the west

Any lingering shows are expected to taper off Tuesday morning, paving the way for a glorious, mostly sunny day with high temperatures in the 70s.

Another storm system could bring heavy rain and wind to the tri-state area Thursday night into Friday, Storm Team 4 says, but the track remains uncertain at this time.
