The NYPD responded to a possible suspicious package report in Lower Manhattan Friday and found what appeared to be a hoax device, sources tell NBC 4 New York.

Sources say the object appeared to be a computer thumb drive, wrapped in putty and posted on a barrier near 40 Wall Street.

Investigators are reviewing security cameras to see if they can tell who planted the object.
