Today Is the Last Day to Register to Vote Before Election Day in NY

Today is the last chance for New Yorkers to register to vote ahead of November's presidential election.

Potential voters have several options -- online, in person, or by mail to get registered in time for the Nov. 8 general elections.

To register voters must be 18 years old by Election Day and must have lived at a New York address since Oct. 9. Voters must also be U.S. citizens and cannot be currently serving a sentence, probation or parole because of a felony conviction. They can't claim the right to vote in another state or be declared mentally incompetent by a court.

To register online, voters should create an account with the New York DMV, then click the "Register to Vote" button and fill out the form.

To mail in a form, download and print the registration form here, then make sure to have it mailed to your county's board of elections by the day.

To register in person, find your county's board of elections office and complete the form at their offices.

The deadline is also fast-approaching in the neighboring Garden State. New Jersey voters have until Tuesday to register.
