Volunteers Search for Man Missing 10 Days

Volunteers plan to distribute fliers and scour homeless shelters Sunday in an attempt to find a 20-year man afflicted with schizophrenia who has been missing for more than 10 days.

Brian Gewirtz was last seen on Feb. 17 at his Marine Park home in Brooklyn, according to his family. A missing person poster say he is diabetic and will need medication.

Volunteers distributed fliers at subway stations Saturday.

"My brother is still out there, likely having been aided by acts of kindness to keep warm and at least partially fed, but obviously he needs to come home, and we need as many volunteers as possible, as early as possible, to help us make that happen," said Christopher Gewirtz on the "Find Brian Gewirtz" Facebook page.
