Plane Landing at JFK From San Francisco Gets Hit by Laser: FAA

The FAA is investigating after a crew on a flight landing at Kennedy Airport reported getting hit by a green laser shortly before landing.

The crew on Virgin America Flight 24 was about four miles northwest of JFK and about 6,000 feet in the air when the Airbus A320 was hit by a green laser at about 9:45 p.m., according to the FAA.

No one was hurt on the flight from San Francisco, and the plane landed safely.

The FAA says it has also notified the NYPD.

Pointing a laser at a plane is a federal crime.
