Police say a minivan driver died in a collision with a school bus in northern New Jersey Tuesday.

Vernon Township Police Chief Roy Wherry says the crash occurred on Route 638 near Old Homestead Road.

The school bus was taking 37 elementary students to Rolling Hills Primary School.

Officials say 21 students were taken to two hospitals for evaluation. Superintendent John Alfieri told The Star-Ledger of Newark their injuries were minor.
