Long Island Woman Ran Psychology Practice Without License: Prosecutor

Amora Rachella treated patients without a psychology license

A California woman has been accused in New York of practicing psychology without a license.

Amora Rachelle of Los Angeles and formerly of Atlantic Beach, N.Y., was charged Wednesday in Nassau County with various felonies, including grand larceny, scheming to defraud and unauthorized practice.

She was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail. Her attorney did not immediately return a call for comment.

Prosecutors say Rachelle treated patients in her Long Island home despite not having a license. They say she was only qualified to practice under the supervision of another licensed psychologist.

She also is accused of fraudulently receiving insurance payments for "psych" services rendered to a victim of a car accident.

Prosecutors said at least three patients had been improperly treated by Rachelle.
