L.I. High School Student Arrested in Lunchroom Stabbing

A Long Island high school student was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed another student in the neck and back, puncturing his lung.

The 20-year-old suspect at Uniondale High school approached the 16-year-old victim inside the lunchroom, produced a sharp object and stabbed him, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. It's not clear what prompted the attack.

The suspect is charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He's scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead Wednesday.
