Cyclist Sought in Deadly Skateboarding Accident Probe

Police want to question a witness to an accident that killed a 20-year-old skateboarder in Manhattan Tuesday.

The skateboarder, identified as 20-year-old Kyle Larson of Manhasset, was going southbound on Union Square West at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday when he lost control and fell, according to police. He was struck by a 2004 Mitsubishi delivery box truck, also traveling southbound on Union Square West.

The 35-year-old truck driver stayed on the scene, and Larson was taken to Beth Israel Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police currently do not suspect criminality and are continuing to investigate.

As part of their probe, investigators are looking to speak with a bicyclist who was seen on surveillance video near the scene of the accident. The cyclist is wearing a fluorescent vest in the video.
