2 Found Dead on LIRR Tracks in Brooklyn: NYPD

Two men were found dead on a section of Long Island Rail Road freight tracks in Borough Park, Brooklyn, Thursday evening, police say.

The men were found in the track roadbed near 67th Street and 15th Avenue just before 8 p.m., police said. They were about 10 feet apart.

The men appear to have been homeless, but it's not clear if they had been staying near the tracks, according to police.

Freight cargo trains, not passenger trains, pass over the tracks, according to authorities. There was one freight train stopped several hundred feet from where the bodies were discovered Thursday, but it's not clear if that train was involved.

It initially didn't appear there was any trauma to the men.

EMS pronounced them dead on the scene, and the medical examiner will determine how they died.
