Man Allegedly Stabs Wife to Death, Slashes Son in Brooklyn

A 52-year-old man is in custody after police say he allegedly stabbed his 46-year-old wife to death and slashed his 14-year-old son in their Brooklyn apartment early Tuesday.

The 52-year-old man was also stabbed.

Police found 46-year-old Guitenna Rugova dead with a stab wound to the neck in the family's second-floor apartment on Marine Avenue on Bay Ridge after getting a call about an assault there at 2:30 a.m., according to the NYPD. Her 14-year-old son had been slashed in the forearm.

Her 52-year-old husband was stabbed in the stomach; it wasn't immediately clear if his wound was self-inflicted.

The son and his father were both taken to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition; the father was taken into custody there and charges are pending.

Neighbors say Rugova was a mother of four who looked forward to opening a new business -- a pizza place -- around the block that she would run with her son. The pizza shop was supposed to open Tuesday.

Residents in the building, where the husband suspected in his wife's death is the superintendent, said they were shocked and horrified by the crime, and couldn't imagine what sparked the alleged attack.

"Impossible," one man who lived in the building said when he learned of Rugova's death.
