Group Attacks Transgender Women, Tells Them to ‘Get off Their Block': Cops

Two transgender women were attacked by a group of people screaming insults in Brooklyn on Saturday, police say.

Around 1 a.m., London Jade and another transgender woman left the Happyfun Hidaway bar in Bushwick and attempted to buy alcohol at a liquor store nearby, police said.

Once they left the store, a group of three men and one woman approached the women and harassed them, screaming slurs and telling them to get off their block, police said.

The woman in the group slapped her in the face, police said.

A fight broke out, resulting in Jade getting slashed on the leg and another woman suffering from a fractured jaw, police said.

The two injured women were taken to Bellevue Hospital, police said. Jade has since been released.

One of the women said that her jaw has been wired shut from the attack and that she needs to have surgery on Thursday.

“If you don’t understand a transgender person’s life then maybe you should listen to what they have to say instead of attacking them,” London Jade told NBC 4 New York.

The attack is being investigated as a possible hate crime.

No arrests have been made.
