One person is in critical condition after an early morning accident in Fort Worth.

State police say a tractor-trailer struck and killed a pedestrian who was standing on the shoulder of the New Jersey Turnpike.

The accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in the northbound express lanes in Englewood.

Authorities say the victim was standing next to a vehicle that had been pulled over to the shoulder, and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

But it's still not known why the vehicle was there, or how long it had been on the shoulder.

The names of the victim and the person driving the tractor-trailer have not been released.
