A fire erupted in a manhole outside the Time Life building in Manhattan Monday, sending passersby running as the flames leaped.

Workers near the fire on 51st Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues said some offices were evacuated, and video showed people running as the fire crackled, sounding like explosions.

Loud booms shook the buildings, according to video taken by one witness.

The FDNY had the fire under control in about two hours.

    No injuries have been reported.
