Three Arrested in Drug Bust, 1 Linked to 18-Year-Old's Overdose: Police

Nassau County police say they have arrested three teenagers in a large drug bust and authorities say one of the men is linked to an overdose of an 18-year-old man.

Officials said 18-year-old Kevin Staiano of Plainview was the one who sold the high school student narcotics that he overdosed on. Police said the teen’s overdose was not deadly.

On Tuesday, officials pulled over a car being driven by Brandon Bromberg, 18, also of Plainview. Staiano was a passenger, according to police, and authorities said they found a drug-filled packback inside the car. Both men were arrested.

In the bag, cops say, was over a 1,000 Xanax pills, psilocybin mushrooms, ketamine, MDMA, cocaine, DMT, acid, marijuana and ecstasy.

Police said their investigation discovered that Staiano rented an apartment in Queens with another man, Nicholas Gennaro, 19. Officials said inside they found more drugs and seized over $8,000 in cash. Gennaro was arrested, police said.

According to police, Staiano is charged with 19 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; Bromberg is charged with second-degree criminal facilitation and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; Gennaro is charged with 11 counts of second and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. They were arraigned in court Wednesday.

It was not immediately clear if the three men had attorneys who could comment on the allegations against them.
