Man Charged in The Battery Shooting That Wounded 2

A 37-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in a broad daylight shooting near The Battery park in lower Manhattan that wounded a man and a female bystander.

Prosecutors said Thursday that Jason Wright was indicted on charges of attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. It wasn't clear if he had a lawyer who could provide comment.

Authorities say Wright and the male victim were selling tickets to ferry cruise tours in April when the two got into an argument. They say Wright pulled out a gun a fired a shot at the victim.

The shot missed and struck the 35-year-old innocent bystander in the ankle. He then fired another shot hitting the man in the chest before fleeing the scene busy with professionals and tourists.
