Teens Pepper-Sprayed by Police After Long Island High School Fight

Several teenagers were shot with pepper spray after police tried to stop a large fight at a Long Island high school.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. Friday outside of Baldwin High School.

Nassau County police say a large fight broke out between students outside of the school. They say an officer shouted at the teens to stop, but they wouldn't.

Police say the officer then deployed a can of pepper spray, sending the teens scrambling in several directions.

A police spokesman wouldn't say Friday evening how many people were sprayed or whether the department felt the officer's actions were appropriate.

Police said the incident was under investigation.

A school spokeswoman said the fight was in a parking lot across the street. She says several students were treated in the school nurse's office.
