Teenager Charged in Groping Incidents

18-year-old expected to be arraigned on charges in three incidents today.

An 18-year-old Queens man who was suspected of groping about a dozen women in New York City has been arraigned in connection with three groping incidents.

Jose A. Perez Hernandez was charged early Wednesday with multiple counts of burglary, sexual abuse and forcible touching. He was arraigned later that night.

Perez Hernandez was taken into custody at his father's home on Tuesday based on a tip. He is thought to have worked at a restaurant in the area where the gropings occurred.

In one case, a woman told police a man approached her from behind and stuck his hand under her skirt. In the other incidents, a woman was assaulted while on a train and another was accosted as she was leaving a subway station.

The victims were in their 20s and 30s.

Many of the incidents took place on the east side of Manhattan.

Investigators released a photo of the suspect, a shorter man with spiky hair wearing a loose striped polo and backpack.

Officers carried the photo with them on assignment, and transit police were on alert.

Hernandez was being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
