Teen Girl Struck, Killed While Trying to Cross NY Highway: Police

A 15-year-old girl was struck and killed as she tried to cross a four-lane New York highway with some other people, police say. 

The girl was hit on the westbound side of the Route 17 near exit 121 in Walkill in Orange County, state police say. She had been crossing with a group of five people. 

The 20-year-old driver from Bloomingburg stayed on the scene. He told police he didn't see the girl, who was wearing dark clothing. 

No charges have been filed. The girl has not been identified.
