Teen Boy Arrested for Pointing Laser at MTA Bus Driver

Police say they've arrested a 16-year-old Bronx boy for allegedly shining a laser at the driver of the MTA bus he was riding, temporarily blinding him.

The boy was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment in the Nov. 18 incident, captured on surveillance video inside a BX15 bus in Kingsbridge.

The video shows the boy appearing to point a laser toward the front of the bus; police said the laser was reflected off the rearview mirror, blinding the driver.

The driver, Kevin Johnson, told NBC 4 New York that the experience was "terrifying" because he wasn't sure what the light was. He said he hit the brakes and pulled over after he was hit with the laser, and the suspect ran away.

Johnson, who visited an eye doctor Thursday, doesn’t appear to have any permanent damage.
