Teen Stabs Woman to Death Over $20 Debt: Cops

Authorities say the victim had loaned the suspect money and an argument got out of hand

An 18-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her brother's girlfriend to death to avoid repaying a $20 debt, authorities say.

Police arrested Kayla Henriques Tuesday morning in connection with a deadly stabbing at the Cypress Public Housing complex in Brooklyn the evening before.

Cops got a call reporting an assault at the housing project at about 10:30 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Kamisha Richards stabbed once in the torso. Despite attempts to save her, Richards was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.

An argument over an unpaid debt allegedly provoked the deadly assault. Police say Richards had loaned $20 to Henriques and an argument between the two got out of hand.

Henriques was being held Tuesday pending arraignment on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

It wasn't clear if she had a lawyer. There was no answer at the address provided by police.
