Teen Gunned Down at Holiday Roller Rink Party

Fights between groups of girls broke out before the shooting

Witnesses said a shooting at a New Jersey roller skating rink during a teenager's Christmas party has left one boy dead and several other people hurt.

Some of the hundreds of people who attended the Thursday night party said fights between groups of girls erupted throughout the night.

Felicia Johnson said there was a gang fight outside the Skate 22 rink in Union and a boy about 15 or 16 years old was shot twice in the head and died.

Teenager Diamond Watkins said the boy was shot in front of her. She said screaming people stampeded toward the doors to get out and some were trampled.

NBCNewYork.com has learned that a girl was also shot in the back and transported to a hospital.

A man who answered the telephone at the skating rink on Friday morning said he couldn't talk about the shooting.

Police said only that they're investigating.
